South Fayette Township Library Policies
General
Who May Borrow?
- FREE library service is available to any resident of Pennsylvania.
- Identification is required.
- Children must have a parent or guardian sign the membership card in order to borrow books.
How Many and How Long?
- You may check out as many materials as you need.
- Most books and media circulate for three weeks.
- Videos and DVDs circulate for one week.
- Large print books and paperback books are available.
- A book drop is available. It is located beside our main entrance. The book drop is always open.
- Going on vacation? We may be able to extend the due date on the material you check out.
Fines on items returned overdue:
- 25 cents/day--All Books & Magazines
- $0.50 /day--On Books on CD and Books on Tape
- $1.00/day on video materials (DVDs, VHS)
- Also, a $5.00 processing fee will be added to the replacement cost of books & media.
Special Services
Interlibrary Loan-If you are looking for a title that is not available in Allegheny County, we can try to get items from outside of the local network.
Inter-network Loan - If the item you want is checked out or is not in the library's collection, ask the librarian to reserve it for you or request it through the network. We will notify you when the material you request is ready for pick-up.
Internet Access/ PCs- Internet access is free at your library. The library PCs also have Word, Publisher, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access software programs installed on them.
Photocopying and Computer Prints- a photocopy machine and a printer are available for use at the rate of 15 cents per page for black and white, 50 cents per page for color.
Fax- Faxes may be sent within the United States for $1.00 per page. We are sorry, we cannot receive faxes.
Reference- Librarians are available for short answer reference questions via phone or e-mail. Also, Reference Librarians are always available in the library to help you.
Meeting Room- There is a meeting room adjacent to the library that is managed by the township. You may use the meeting room when you are in the library if it is available. You can also reserve the room through the township--(412) 221-8700.
