Mission & History

The mission of the South Fayette Township Library (SFTL) is to serve as a civic, social, cultural, and educational center promoting lifelong learning.

The local population served by South Fayette Township Library is 14,416 per the US Census 2010 Demographic Profile.  

The South Fayette Township Library is an independent 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation that operates as a public library as defined by the Pennsylvania Library Code. 

The South Fayette Township Library opened its doors on January 10, 1994 with a mostly-donated collection of 4,000 books. After nine years the municipal building was remodeled and the South Fayette Township Library moved into a larger space. Currently, the South Fayette Township Library offers customers comfortable seating, good lighting, work space, six public access computers, and an ever improving collection of materials.
